Admissions Process

We take our job of helping your child grow and develop very seriously.  We have a unique approach that respects each child for who they are and allows them to learn at their own developmentally appropriate level.  And we do all of this with a small child to teacher ratio for plenty of guidance and support. Because our approach is different from a more traditional school environment, we have an in-depth but straightforward admissions process to make sure we are a good fit for your family and child.

Our admissions process has three main goals:

  1. To determine our ability to meet your expectations and your child's needs.

  2. To make sure your child will be successful as a part of our learning community.

  3. To provide an opportunity to communicate our approach and your role.

We consider enrollment for students entering grades kindergarten through 6th grade.

For 6th grade students, admission is on a case-by-case basis with consideration for the needs

of the student and the learning community.

Our Three Step Process

Step 1: Schedule an Observation

The best way to get a feel for how The Learning Well classroom functions is to see it in action.  We ask that all prospective applicants spend a morning observing our community prior to submitting an application.  Observers typically choose to stay between one and two hours.  Children at The Learning Well amaze observers because they are themselves.  You will find the classroom to be a calm-yet-engerized environment and the children engaged, focused and having fun.

You may contact us by email at info@learningwellschool.org to sign up for one of our tour/observation dates. A board member or volunteer will be your guide, allowing you to ask questions as you quietly watch our community in action.  Your prospective student is welcome to attend the observation if you wish.

Step 2: Complete an Application

Families will receive a pre-registration/application form at their tour.  Completing and returning the application determines your student's "place in line" for our available spaces.

Step 3: Review and Admission

Upon receiving your application, we will review and confirm admission with you in a timely manner.  Sometimes we may want to meet with you and your child to discuss your application and make sure The Learning Well is a good fit for your child and family.  For incoming new students in grades 3 or above, a non-threatening, one-on-one academic assessment with one of our staff is required prior to acceptance.

Following notification of acceptance, you will then be sent an email inviting you to enroll via our online portal and pay your $250 registration fee. Completing the online enrollment within two weeks of receiving the invitation is required to secure your child's space for the next school year.

If there is not an enrollment opening available at this time, you can elect to keep your application on file with us for up to one year, in the event an opening becomes available.

The Learning Well Community Non-Discrimination Policy
